PROJECTS

8th St, NE
Washington, DC

In collaboration with DAKS Development

This building, designed by EL Studio, contains four two-story three-bedroom homes situated around a central courtyard. The lower units feature private sunken gardens while the upper units each enjoy a private roof deck. The project cleverly balances openness and privacy within an architectural envelope that is proudly contemporary while also making clear and direct references to the historical neighborhood which it inhabits. Constitution Ave,
Washington, DC

This revitalization of a historic structure has created an efficient and modern co-living residence while preserving the aesthetic integrity of the neighborhood. Each floor is an independent, five or six-person accommodation unit, with private bedrooms and bathrooms but shared living spaces. This arrangement, designed by EL Studio, offers modern amenities, privacy, and security to Washington residents looking to reside closer to the center of the city.

The Queen of Zero
Hyatsville, Maryland

In collaboration with DAKS Development & SymbiHomes

Designed by architect Michael Romero, construction will soon be completed on this brand new, ground-up net zero Queen Anne Victorian-style custom single-family home in a historic neighborhood of Prince George’s County, MD, just outside Washington DC. Queen of Zero’s aesthetic pays homage to the ornate and stately Victorian era of the late 19th Century, while incorporating technologically advanced materials and building science techniques including Tesla solar shingles, energy-efficient heat pumps, and an exterior shell of structurally insulated panels (SIPS). Pursuing Zero Energy Ready Homes certification with the US Department of Energy, this project is an exemplary model for building high quality, resilient, and durable homes 85-95% more efficient than the typical new build.
